Part-time Seasonal Position

Essential Duties: The Provo City Recreation Department is looking for an art instructor to teach a variety of community art classes to adults with the potential to teach youth and senior classes, depending on availability. The individual appointed to this position will perform the following duties: create art curriculum, promote the program, set up and take down materials for students, track attendance, instruct students of varying levels, and evaluate program success for future modification. Must provide energetic classes and display a positive, upbeat attitude for community members.
Minimum Requirements: Sufficient knowledge of art instruction relating to youth and adults, as well as the physical ability required to perform the duties of the job. Preference will be given to applicants with previous teaching experience and the desire to work with and teach several art mediums to participants.
Wage: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour, depending upon experience and certifications. Payment will be by direct deposit.
Schedule: Approximately 5-15 hours per week. Schedule is flexible based on department need and is subject to change.

Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires physical strength and agility to perform the work including: two to four hours of art instruction per week and other varied physical activities associated with performing the essential duties.
