Recreation Division/Parks and Recreation Department
Part-time Seasonal Positions

Number of Positions: Eight (8) to Twelve (12)

 

Essential Duties: These are adult and/or youth flag football program referees for the Recreation Division of the Provo City Parks & Recreation Department. Individuals appointed to these positions will be required to referee adult and/or youth flag football games, help with minor field set up, and control the overall game as the officials. Additionally, employees will be required to assist staff as needed and perform other related duties as required.


Minimum Requirements: Knowledge of football rules, penalties, and hand signals. Physical ability needed to perform the duties of the job. ***Please indicate your areas of sports expertise in the certifications section on your application.***

Selection Factors: Knowledge of football rules; and ability to maintain control of teams, coaches, and players, resolve conflicts, and work well with people.

Hours: Monday-Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.

 

Wage: Adult $15.00 - $18.00 per hour; Youth $9.00 - $11.00 per hour. Payment will be made by direct deposit.

 

Duration of Position: Approximately August 14 to October 21, 2017, depending upon department need.

 

Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.

Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires physical strength and agility to perform the work including: running, sprinting, keeping up with the players during the games and minor bending and lifting; the ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions; and working with the public in sometimes stressful situations.

Pre-employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
