    Forbes.com recently ranked Provo City one of the "best places for business and careers."  Read the full article here.  In addition, Craig Bott, President & CEO of Grow Utah Ventures, on Silicon Slopes.com, recently recognized "the innovative efforts of Provo City and their Business Development Fund."  "This is a leading example of what a community can do to promote entrpreneurism," he said.    Read his article here.

    Provo on Forbes List of Best Places for Business

    Provo was listed on the Forbes Magazine list of Best Places for Business. Provo placed 11th on the list nationally. The listing scored cities based on criteria such as cost of doing business, cost of living, crime rates, job growth and educational attainment.     Provo City Portfolio Companies among the “Top 25 Under Five” Award Winners

    Seven Provo-based companies–Agel, BEKO & Associates, Renasis, Rocketship, RockWell, Seastone and Your Home Advocate–were recognized in the Utah Valley Entrepreneurial Forum’s Top 25 Businesses Less than 5 Years Old Award Program. This program recognizes successful entrepreneurial companies along the Wasatch Front that are less than five years old. Competing companies are judged based on profit, growth, equity funding, job creation and job quality.

    Of the Provo businesses recognized, three of them--BEKO & Associates, Renasis and RockWell-- are companies who have received early financing and support from the Business Development Corporation of Provo (BDC), a non profit sponsored by the City of Provo’s Economic Development/Redevelopment Department.

    Provo in Top Ten Hottest Midsized Cities for Doing Business

    The May 2006 edition of Inc Magazine has recognized Provo as one of the top ten midsized cities in the nation for doing business.  To quote the article,  "High-tech firms like Novell are finding a home in Provo, which is completing a $40 million fiber-optic network. Low crime and outdoor activities make it a magnet for young professionals. Brigham Young University adds academic heft, and for celebrity sightings, Sundance Film Festival is just up the road. "
