Provo on Forbes List of Best Places for Business

Provo was listed on the Forbes Magazine list of Best Places for Business. Provo placed 11th on the list nationally. The listing scored cities based on criteria such as cost of doing business, cost of living, crime rates, job growth and educational attainment. Provo City Portfolio Companies among the “Top 25 Under Five” Award Winners

Seven Provo-based companies–Agel, BEKO & Associates, Renasis, Rocketship, RockWell, Seastone and Your Home Advocate–were recognized in the Utah Valley Entrepreneurial Forum’s Top 25 Businesses Less than 5 Years Old Award Program. This program recognizes successful entrepreneurial companies along the Wasatch Front that are less than five years old. Competing companies are judged based on profit, growth, equity funding, job creation and job quality.
Of the Provo businesses recognized, three of them--BEKO & Associates, Renasis and RockWell-- are companies who have received early financing and support from the Business Development Corporation of Provo (BDC), a non profit sponsored by the City of Provo’s Economic Development/Redevelopment Department.

vSpring Capital Names Top Utah Venture Entrepreneurs

vSpring Capital, a Utah venture capital firm, has released its list of the top 100 venture entrepreneurs, and to no one’s surprise, the list is dominated by Provo business leaders. Among the top 100 were Paul Allen of Infobase Ventures, Paul Brockbank of Enhance Interactive, Jack Endicott of Exact Wave, Gary Kennedy of RemedyMD, David Moon of EsNet, Ben Peterson of Spark Networks, John Richards and Phil Windley from Brigham Young University, Tom Stockham, Daren Thayne and Michael Wolfgramm of MyFamily.com, and Brett Walker of VitalSmarts. Congratulations to these Provo entrepreneurs for their leadership.

Provo Among Best Cities for Entrepreneurs

BusinessWeek Magazine in a Special Report – Best Cities for Entrepreneurs named Provo, Utah as a prime site for entrepreneurial activity. The article notes Provo’s scenic beauty, competitive tax rates, affordable homes, low crime rates, and the city’s investment in fiber-optic infrastructure that will allow widespread high speed Internet access for residents and businesses as being contributing factors in Provo’s selection as a top spot for entrepreneurs.
