Matching Funds Program
2007-08 Matching Grant Application
The Provo Municipal Council created the Neighborhood Matching Grant Program to allow citizens a proactive approach to the development of their communities. The Municipal Council allocated funds to allow neighborhood-based groups and organizations to propose projects which will benefit the neighborhood communities. The program is designed to enable these neighborhood groups to accomplish neighborhood development projects which may not have transpired due to lack of funding.
Under this program, the City supplies the cash for a neighborhood project and the neighborhood matches the City’s contribution with local resources of volunteer labor, donated materials, professional services and cash too! The matching grant fund is designed for projects which are creative, benefit the neighborhood, inspire greater community involvement, and can be completed in less than 12 months.
No project can seek a Matching Fund award of greater than $5,000, unless it is a joint neighborhood project where an equal match would be required. Generally, only one application per neighborhood will be considered. However, on years when the total amount of funding is not applied for, more than one application from a given neighborhood may be considered at the final funding disbursement. We have prepared a general information and application packet that you can download in PDF format (Acrobat Reader required).

Bicentennial Park Improvement Project

| The Bicentennial Park Improvement Project, partially funded through the Neighborhood Matching Fund program, recently completed a major clean-up of Bicentennial Park in Provo. |
| |
| The project, spearheaded by Katrina McKnight, focused on improving the park by: painting the pavilion and bathrooms, planting trees, general cleaning and landscaping, repairing the boardwalk, cleaning the trash, and removing the old playground equipment. New playground equipment is scheduled for installation Fall 2005. |
| The project committee also held several fundraisers that raised nearly $4,000. This money was used to help purchase the new playground equipment. |
