So far this year...

The Youth Council organized a Meet the Candidates night that was held at Timpview High School prior to the Primary Election and participated in the Election Receptions at the City Center on the days of the Primary and General Elections. They participated in the City Services Fair in early October by hosting a booth that explored city government and what it takes to be a good citizen, and provided various activities and handouts that allowed scouts to work on their Citizenship in the Community merit badge. On Halloween, the Youth Council collected 241 pounds of food through their Trick-or-Canning Food Drive and later spent time at the Food Bank sorting cans to help prepare for Thanksgiving.  In December, they participated in the annual Winterfest Parade down Center Street, driving a decorated golf cart float and passing out candy to the parade watchers. The ULCT Day at the Legislature this February was a great learning opportunity for the Youth Council.  They visited the Capitol Building, learned about the history of Utah's Capitol, and sat in on the Legislative Session.  Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani spoke at the luncheon, where the Youth Council were also able to meet and talk with many of their legislators.  For Valentine's Day, the Youth made Valentines for Seniors at the Eldred Center.

The Youth Council meets at least twice each month to plan upcoming events and to discuss issues that are of interest or concern to the youth of Provo.

If you have a fundraising or volunteer opportunity available, please contact Erin Hansen in the Provo Council Office at 801-852-6119.  We would love to put it on our calendar!
