Register as a User
The new provo.org gives our visitors an opportunity to register with the website to access new and interesting features. You have to be 13 years old or older or have a parent’s permission. All we ask is that you provide a user name and preferred password, and that you give us an email address in case we have to reset a lost password.
MyProvo
If you register as a user and login, then you can essentially create your own MyProvo homepage. On each page of the website, there is a box in the upper right hand corner that allows you to add the page to MyProvo. Note that in the upper left hand red box on each page a button for MyProvo. As you add pages to MyProvo, you can then click on that red box and your own personalized home page will appear. So, if you are an adult sports participant, you can add pages related to your sport like game schedules, registration, activity results and game delays to your MyProvo and then start there when you arrive at provo.org. If you are into Municipal Council and Planning Commission meetings, you can just add those pages to your own MyProvo. MyProvo is designed to be your personalized City homepage.
How Do I?
As the City staff worked on the redesign of the web site, we wanted to help our residents “cut to the chase” as they tried to find information on the site. On the home page, and in each subarea of the web site, we have added quick links to the answers to questions that start with “How Do I.” For example, you will see on the home page links to “How do I report an emergency?” and “How do I make a payment?” Then on the Community Development pages, you will find links like “How do I apply for a building permit?” The plan here is to help you easily find ways to interact with the City and get answers to your questions quickly.
City Services A-Z
This link, located in the red box on the top left of every page, is a list of all the things the City does, or that you think we ought to do, alphabetically. We have also listed links to services that we get asked about but are offered elsewhere (like getting a marriage license - the County offers that service). And we tried not to use the typical “government-speak.” Solid waste collection is listed under “Trash Pick Up Schedule,” “Sanitation,” “Garbage Pick Up Schedule,” and “Solid Waste Collection” just for good measure. If you can’t find the service you are looking for, just email us and we’ll be glad to add it to the list.
ParkFinder
With the launch of the new website, we also introduce the City's new ParkFinder utility. On this page, you can check the amenities you are looking for - like pavillions, restrooms, playgrounds and more, and then search. The results will show you pictures of each park, a map showing its location and the fees associated with reserving the park for your activity.
Watch Channel 17 online
The City recently added streaming video to the City web page so you can watch Provo’s Channel 17 government access channel online. You will also find a video archive of Municipal Council and Planning Commission meetings, other meetings and events of interest and our monthly newsmagzine, City Beat. If you are watching an archived meeting, you can even look at the agenda, find the item of interest and click on it - the video will take you right to that agenda item.
Lots of Pictures
One change you will also notice is that the banner photos at the top of every page load randomly, so you always get a little different picture related to Provo. And on City Department pages, the pictures are about their services. We hope you enjoy that little touch and that provo.org feels a bit more like your home town.
New and Improved Search
We have worked hard on our internal search engine and our page coding so that the search feature will work much better now. Our plan has been to have any search term or keyword you load bring to quickly to the page that will respond to your need.
