Traffic Systems

Signals The Engineering Division operates a state of the art traffic management center that utilizes advanced technologies such as cameras, radar detection, and sensors to monitor traffic flow, traffic congestion and accidents. Provo City currently has 90 traffic signals throughout the city with approximately half the traffic signals being located on State Highways. Traffic signals on State Highways are maintained by the Utah Department of Transportation Traffic Management Division. The remaining signals located on Provo City roadways are maintained by the Engineering Division and Energy Department.


 
Related Image Roundabouts The modern roundabout is a type of raised intersection with no traffic lights. It is designed to reduce crashes and improve traffic flow. By understanding what a modern roundabout is and how it works, motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians can travel through intersections easier and more safely. Provo City currently has 15 roundabouts throughout different areas in the city.
