Library Closed for Boiler Repairs Wednesday, January 30, 2008 - 09:58 AM The Provo City Library at Academy Square will be closed temporarily due to a boiler malfunction that became apparent early Tuesday morning. The library will likely remain closed for at least two days while it is repaired. The piping inside the boiler has sprung leaks which can only be fixed by shutting down the boiler, the building's main source of heat. Repairs are underway and it is anticipated that the Library will reopen Friday.
The library is usually open Monday through Saturday, and serves many patrons each day it is open. Last year, over 1.4 million items were circulated through the library, about 4,500 items per day. The library also sponsored 860 programs attended by 59,436 children, and hosted about 1,200 public and private meetings.
