Provo City
Monday Night at the Airport
Tuesday, June 14, 2011 - 08:25 AM

The public is invited to the airport Monday night to tour the new terminal annex between 8-9:30 p.m. and watch the first Frontier Airlines flight land at 9:15 p.m.

The first Frontier Airlines flight from Denver to Provo will land at the Provo Municipal Airport on Monday night, June 20. The public is invited to tour the airport’s recently completed terminal annex attached to the Million Air facility, 3421 West Mike Jense Parkway, from 8 to 9:30 p.m., and to watch the Frontier Airlines Embraer 190 jet land at 9:15 p.m. There will be a ribbon-cutting for the new terminal annex at 8:30 p.m. Provo Fire & Rescue will greet the incoming plane with a “water rainbow,” an industry tradition for new service at an airport. The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be provided.

Construction for the new terminal annex began shortly after Frontier Airlines announced in March that it would begin offering daily non-stop flights to Denver in June. The contractor for the project, Miller Construction, completed its work in less than 50 days.

The terminal annex includes seating for 93, two ticket counters, and equipment for passenger and baggage screening. Other recent improvements at the airport in preparation for the new commercial service include the paving of the parking lot east of the Million Air facility. A total of 114 stalls were painted on the lot earlier this week.

The first Frontier Airlines flight into Provo is on Monday night and the first flight to Denver is Tuesday morning. In Denver, connections can be made to 30 destinations around the country.
