Provo City Redevelopment Agency, NeighborWorks Provo and the Franklin Neighborhood invite the public to the grand opening of the Provo Energy Smart House, 279 S. 600 West, on Earth Day, April 22, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Provo Energy Smart House is a home built in the 1920's that NeighborWorks Provo purchased a year ago to rehabilitate and sell.  The rehabilitation started last July and has included a variety of energy efficient upgrades.  The house will be open for public tours and demonstrations starting April 22.  After that, the house will be open by appointment by calling NeighborWorks Provo at 801-375-5820.

Several organizations, including Provo City Power and Water, Questar Gas and Central Utah Water Conservancy District helped with the energy efficient upgrades.  Representatives from those organizations and others will be at the grand opening with giveaways and tips the public can use in their own homes.

Also at the grand opening, Provo City Mayor John Curtis will speak and Provo City will plant a tree in honor of Earth Day.

For more information about the Energy Smart House and how to conserve energy at home, the public can visit http://energysmart.provo.org.
