Responsibility for Political Communications What is Regulated 1. Whenever a candidate, campaign committee or political committee a. makes any expenditure for b. an advertisement c. regarding a candidate or political issue d. which is broadcast or published by means of television, radio, newspaper, billboards, direct mailings, automatic telephone equipment, paid telephonists, leaflets, fliers, posters, bumper stickers or other printed matter, e. the advertisement shall disclose the name of the candidate, campaign committee members, or political committee members who are responsible for its broadcast or publication. 2. Whenever any person a. makes an expenditure of more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) for b. an advertisement c. regarding a candidate or political issue d. which is broadcast or published by means of television, radio, newspaper, billboards, direct mailings, automatic telephone equipment, paid telephonists, leaflets, fliers, posters, bumper stickers or other printed matter, e. the advertisement shall contain the name of the person responsible for its broadcast or publication. Penalty 3. Any person who a. makes a false statement b. regarding a candidate or political issue c. which is broadcast or published by means of television, radio, newspaper, billboards, direct mailings, automatic telephone equipment, paid telephonists, leaflets, fliers, posters, bumper stickers or other printed matter d. shall be guilty of a Class B misdemeanor. 4. Any campaign committee or political committee a. which makes a false statement b. regarding a candidate or political issue c. which is broadcast or published by means of television, radio, newspaper, billboards, direct mailings, automatic telephone equipment, paid telephonists, leaflets, fliers, posters, bumper stickers or other printed matter d. shall be guilty of a Class B misdemeanor.
