PROCEDURES FOR CONTESTING A PARKING TICKET

1. Fill out contest forms completely. Be sure to include the ticket number (7 to 8 digits) and your license plate number. Incomplete forms may be denied.
2. The Hearing Examiner will render a decision within ten (10) working days of the receipt of the contest form, informing you of the decision to uphold or dismiss the parking violation. If the violation is dismissed, you no longer have any obligation.
3. If the contest is denied the fine is to be paid at the Provo City cashier's desk, located in the Provo City Center, 351 West Center Provo, Utah 84603. Late fees will not be added once the tickets are appealed, but will continue seven (7) days after the date of the Hearing Examiner's decision.
4. The Hearing Examiner's decision will be mailed to the address you provided. If you do not receive the decision within ten (10) working days, you will need to call the Hearing Office at (801) 852-6542 for the decision. DO NOT ASSUME YOUR CITATION HAS BEEN DISMISSED.
5. If you wish to appeal the Hearing Examiner's decision, you may file an appeal with the 4th District Court, located at 125 North 100 West in Provo. Prior to filing a contest with the 4th District Court it is required that you meet with the Hearing Examiner.
6. You may meet with the Hearing Examiner, Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., or by appointment.
