   VOTING

How will we know when and where to vote? Watch for information regarding voting precincts, polling places, and election dates and hours in The Daily Herald.

What if I’m out-of-town, hospitalized, in a long-term care facility, or serving as an election official outside my precinct?

You may request an absentee ballot, either in person or in writing.  You may vote in the office of the city recorder or vote an absentee ballot that is sent to you. If a mailed ballot is post-marked by the day preceding the election it will be counted.  Emergency absentee voter ballots may be carried to a hospitalized voter on election day and will be counted if it is returned to the election officer’s office before the polls close on election day.

Someone said that election day is one time when everyone has the opportunity to voice their opinion on the direction the city should take.  Sir Winston Churchill believed that exercising the franchise to vote was of “overwhelming importance,” and “the ultimate expression of democracy.” We encourage every U. S. citizen, who has resided in Provo City for 30 days and will be 18 years of age by the election day, to register to vote and exercise this priceless right and privilege.
