Provo City

Wildland

The City of Provo lies between the steep west face of the Uinta Mountain range and Utah Lake. Due to the diversity of the terrain, the west facing aspects and the natural vegetation that encroaches upon our borders make wildfire a significant potential threat.

Provo Fire and Rescue recognizes this potential threat. All fire department personnel have been trained in basic Wildland Firefighter certifications (Red Card) along with annual updated training. Each Firefighter is equipped with standard Wildland fire protective equipment. Within the apparatus fleet are three F-550 Brush trucks equipped with hose, water, foam and tools.

Homeowners can participate in creating “Fire-wise” homes and properties. By doing so, actions taken will assist in mitigating the threat of wildfire and help the firefighting efforts. Many resources are available to the community in developing defensible space, Fire-wise homes and the reduction of fuels around homes.
