Provo City

Apparatus and Equipment

Provo Fire & Rescue has a modern fleet of Fire/Medical response apparatus and each of our staffed Fire Stations is equipped with state of the art apparatus. Prior to the 2002 Winter Olympics, a new concept of leasing instead of purchasing fire equipment was developed.  Every five years, Provo will roll their fire apparatus fleet over and lease new equipment. This has worked to benefit Provo City and the citizens.  Our goals are to provide the best state-of-the-art equipment and to use the same basic drive trains and chassis to keep repair costs at a minimum.

Each Station in Provo has unique features and responsibilities. Station 21 is home to Rescue 21, a 2006 American LaFrance medium duty paramedic ambulance as well as Squad 21, a 2001 Pierce Heavy Rescue/Hazmat/Extrication truck. Squad 21 has a “telescoping light tower”, a 40 kilowatt PTO-driven generator, 21 CFM Eagle Compressor and cascade system.

Station 22 houses a Pierce 55’ Quint with a 2000 GPM Waterous pump. Station 22 responds more in the foothills and to Provo Canyon as well as BYU’s upper campus. Rescue 22 is also a 2006 American LaFrance medium duty paramedic ambulance. Brush 22 is a 2005 Ford F550 with a skid mount pump. Rescue 26 is a 1999 Ford F350 used as a backup ambulance and for special events such as football games. Other response vehicles at Station 22 include 2 Honda ATV’s and a Polaris Ranger equipped for patient transport in the mountains.

Station 23 responds to the northwest area of the city which includes Grandview and the lower BYU campus. Truck 23 is a 2006 Pierce Quint All-Steer with a 105’ Ladder. Rescue 23 is a 2006 American LaFrance medium duty paramedic ambulance. Engine 26 is a 1978 LaFrance that was refurbished by Pierce. It is utilized as a backup.

Station 24 responds to calls from I-15 to Utah Lake including calls to the airport. Engine 24 is a 2006 Pierce 55’ Quint with a Waterous 2000 GPM pump. Rescue 24 is a 2006 American LaFrance medium duty paramedic ambulance. Rescue 27 serves as a backup paramedic rescue. It is a 2003 Ford F350. Brush 24 is a 2005 Ford F550 with a skid mount pump.

Station 25 is our largest station and responds to the southeast area of town. It is also home to more of our equipment. Truck 25 leads the way being the same 2006 Pierce Quint 105’ All-Steer as Truck 23. Rescue 25 is also the same configuration as the other rescues, 2006 American LaFrance medium duty paramedic ambulance. Brush 25 is identical as Brush 22 and 24. Engine 27 is the backup being a 1992 E One with a 1500 GPM pump. Also housed at Station 25 is our new Large Capacity Fan (300,000 CFM) and our SRT equipment trailer.

The Airport Station houses 2 specialty vehicles for ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting) response. These vehicles are designated as “Red 1” and “Red 2”. Built specifically for responding to aircraft emergencies. both ARFF vehicles are 1988 Oshkosh T3000 series trucks. They carry 3000 gallons of water and up to 240 gallons of foam concentrate.

Provo Fire & Rescue is always moving forward in trying to maintain state of the art equipment. This provides better quality service to the community.
