Child Care Inspections
Schedule of Inspections
Days: Monday - Friday
Times: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Fee: $40.00 Exempt Child Care Facility
$60.00 Daycare/Preschool
Fees must be paid at the Provo City Cashier's Office.
Provo Fire and Rescue offers Home Day Care Inspections. This is a requirement for any resident to receive a business license for home day care.To schedule an inspection, a receipt for the inspection fee must be presented to the office assistant at Provo Fire Station 21, located at 80 South 300 West. A list of requirements will be given to the applicant upon making the appointment for the inspection. Our inspector is also responsible for fire investigations and may be called away from inspections. In which case, we will do our best to reschedule the inspection at a time convenient for the applicant and inspector.
The following is a list of items that will be inspected in the home:
Unobstructed exit doors.
Unobstructed exit windows in sleeping, living and dining areas.
Adequate smoke detectors.
Smoke detectors work.
No combustibles stored around furnace and or water heater.
Water heater seismically braced (if gas fired).
Fire extinguisher charged and current service tag attached.
Electrical panel and wiring in good condition.
Child protective covers on electrical outlets.
Closets openable from the inside.
Bathroom openable from the outside. Key in a readily accessible location.
Flammable liquids stored where they will not block exits.
Fireplace, chimney, wood stove in good condition and installed properly.
Unvented fuel-fired room heaters (prohibited).
All heating devices walled or screened off so that they are not accessible to children (watch for adequate combustion air).
Fire escape plan in place and posted. Fire drills conducted quarterly.
Basement - stairways enclosed with 20 minute protection (includes a 20 minute door). Exception: stairways that have direct access to the exterior.

Para obtener y mantener un permiso del Servicio de Incendios para guardería infantil, usted debe:
Mantener las salidas de la casa (puertas y ventanas) libre de obstrucciónes.
Mantener suficiente detectores de humo (uno afuera de cada habitación y en cada nivel de su hogar).
Revisar las baterías de los detectores de humo mensualmente y cambiarlas cada seis meses.
No almacenar materiales combustibles alrededor del calentador de agua ni de la califacción de la casa.
Amarrar el calentador de agua con una abrazadera sísmica.
Mantener el extinguidor de incendios (parallamas).
Mantener el tablero de controles electricos y la instalación electrica en buenas condiciones.
Utilizar tapones de seguridad en los tomacorrientes.
No almacenar liquidos inflamables en cualquier salida de la casa.
No usar calentadores portatiles de petrólio combustible.
Apostar en la pared un plan de escape en caso de incendios.Planifique y practique este plan mensualmente.
Pagar el honorarios de $40.00 US por la inspeción.
