Aside from responding to fire and medical emergencies, Provo Fire offers other important fire and life safety programs.

Safety and Fire Education for  Neighborhoods (SAFE Neighborhoods)

S.A.F.E. Neighborhoods is a program designed to provide a homogenous fire and injury prevention program  for neighborhoods. The programs assist businesses and homeowners alike. This  program integrates all fire prevention and life safety programs currently  available through Provo Fire and Rescue. Current programs include:  Learn Not to  Burn, Risk Watch, Remembering When and our Fire and Life Safety Audit Program  (business inspections). For those neighborhoods that are exposed to the risk of  wild fire, S.A.F.E. Neighborhoods includes Living With Fire, a fuel reduction program.

Fire and Life Safety for Businesses

The mission and vision of the Fire Marshal’s Office includes a partnership with the business community  to create and maintain a safe and successful environment for business and entertainment. We believe code compliance can improve the bottom line of business while promoting fire and life safety.

    Hazardous Materials Management Program (HMO)

Provo Fire and Rescue hosts a hazardous materials management program designed  to meet federal state and local reporting requirements.  Provo Fire and Rescue can assist business owners to comply with storage and use regulations. These regulations can be confusing for  the business owner. Issues of noncompliance can be both dangerous and expensive to mitigate. Our permit program is designed to provide pre-incident planning.  The program also includes a hazardous materials response team in the event of a  spill or release.

    Construction and Operational Permits Program

Provo Fire and Rescue hosts a construction and operational permit program. The International Fire Code, currently adopted  by the State of Utah and Provo City requires a permit to build or install certain occupancies, building features or processes. Our IFC permits program can provide all of the information and requirements to allow the business owner full  compliance with these regulations.

    Public Education for Businesses

Provo Fire and Rescue  provides CPR courses.  We also can assist the business owner in preparing an emergency safety plan. Certain businesses require safety plans per the Fire  Code. We can also provide educational demonstrations for proper fire extinguisher use.
