Project Impact is a national initiative that encourages cooperation between public and private partners to build disaster resistant communities. The main goal of this initiative is to reduce the vulnerability of economic and personal loss from natural disasters. In order for Project Impact to succeed, a "grass roots" effort is required from community leaders, citizens, and local businesses. Provo was selected as Utah’s 2001 Project Impact Community. This gives the City a wonderful opportunity to join other communities throughout the nation in becoming disaster resistant.
