    Part-time Seasonal Positions

    Essential Duties: These are official/referee positions in the Recreation Division of the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. The individuals appointed to these positions will be required to referee or keep score at a variety of youth and adult sports as needed (i.e. soccer, adult and youth flag football, basketball, softball, baseball, etc.) Additionally, appointed employees will be required to assist office staff as needed and perform other related duties as required.


    Minimum Requirements: A working knowledge of most sports (or the particular sport applicant is interested in) i.e. soccer, flag football, basketball, softball, baseball, etc. Officiating experience is preferred.


    License: Valid, lawful driver's license may be required at time of appointment. Applicant may be disqualified on the basis of unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.


    Drug Screening: Prior to appointment, applicant may be required to pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.


    Wage: $5.85 - $19.41 per hour as determined by the duties performed and level of knowledge, skill, or experience. Payment will be made by direct deposit.


    Hours/Duration of Position: Vary with program.


    Physical/Environmental Factors: Work requires possible exposure to adverse weather conditions and working in potentially stressful environments.


    Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.


    To Apply: All applications must be filed with the Provo City Department of Human Resources located at 351 West Center, Provo, UT 84601. Please note the particular sport of interest on the application at time of submission.


    Applications will be accepted year-round and remain on file for sixty (60) days. Applicants will be eligible for consideration for appointment to any related positions opening within that period of time. If upon expiration of the sixty (60) days, an individual would like his/her application to remain on file, he/she must notify the Department of Human Resources at 852-6182 to extend the date of the application.
