Essential Duties: These are recreation instructor positions for the Provo City Recreation Department. The individuals appointed to these positions will be required to teach any of the following classes approximately two to four hours per week: aerobics, kickboxing, pilates, yoga, fitness, gymnastics, language, martial arts, dance, art, music, etc. to individuals/groups in the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. Individuals will be in charge of setting out the appropriate equipment and neatly returning it to its designated place. Must provide energetic classes and display a positive, upbeat attitude. Additionally, employees will be required to assist recreation staff as needed and perform other related duties as required.
 
Minimum Requirements: Sufficient knowledge of aerobics, kickboxing, pilates, yoga, fitness, gymnastics, language, martial arts, dance, art, music, etc. and the physical ability required to perform the duties of the job. Preference will be given to applicants with previous recreation instructing experience.
 
Wage: $8.00 per hour and up, depending upon experience. Payment will be by direct deposit. 
 
Schedule: Schedule is flexible based on department need and is subject to change
 
Selection Factors: Knowledge of aerobics, kickboxing, pilates, yoga, fitness, gymnastics, language, martial arts, dance, art, music, etc., job-related experience, and public relations skills.  ***PLEASE STATE YOUR SPECIFIC RECREATION KNOWLEDGE IN THE JOB/SKILLS CERTIFICATION SECTION ON THE JOB APPLICATION.***
 
Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
 
Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires physical strength and agility to perform the work including: two to four hours of aerobics, kickboxing, pilates, yoga, fitness, gymnastics, language, martial arts, dance, art, music, etc. instruction per week and other varied physical activities associated with performing the essential duties.
