MEDIA SERVICES SPECIALIST

Part-time Regular Position

Essential Duties: The individual appointed to this position will be required to produce a variety of video, print, and electronic media content; perform a variety of audio and video production activities as well as write, tape and edit video programs in a variety of lengths and formats; and produce and direct live multi-camera television productions on remote location and in the studio. The position requires a working knowledge of video editing software and is also responsible for scheduling interviews, researching and developing stories including overseeing all activities related to the production of programming for the Provo City government access TV channel. Employee will also develop materials for web pages, interactive media, and other multimedia projects, including taking digital photographs. Additionally, employee will be required to assist other department staff members as needed and perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements: A combination of media production skills and experience with video editing techniques and software is required. Candidate must be familiar with Final Cut Studio and/or Adobe Premier. Knowledge and experience in broadcasting, including TV program production and a working knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator is a plus.
Selection Factors: Preference will be given to applicants that can provide examples of their video production and broadcasting work. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing is essential. A positive attitude with the proven ability to work effectively with a team is required. Graduates or students currently enrolled in a communications, broadcasting, public relations or closely related field would be a plus; however, consideration will be given to all applicants with relevant experience.
Hours: Approximately 15 to 30 hours per week. Must be flexible–will require some evening hours.
Wage: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour. Payment will be made by direct deposit.
Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge and education. Selection for this position may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
