    ADMISSIONS CASHIERS/CLERKS

    (Office Specialist I)

    Provo City Recreation Center

    Part-time Regular Positions


    Number of Positions: Ten (10)

    Essential Duties: These are receptionist/clerical positions at the Provo City Recreation Center and Veterans Memorial Splash Pool for the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. The individuals appointed to these positions will perform the following duties: greet public patrons; answer phones; schedule facilities; handle and receipt facility revenues; coordinate swimming lesson and other program sign-ups; and sell pass memberships. Additionally, candidates hired will be required to perform some clerical duties and other related work as required.


    Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D. with some course work in the secretarial sciences; or six months experience in clerical/secretarial work.


    Preferences: Typing ability of 30 wpm net or higher and computer cash register experience preferred. Sales experience helpful.


    Selection Factors: Good public relations, communication, and organizational skills.


    Wage: $7.00 per hour. Payment will be made by direct deposit.


    Hours: Mornings, afternoons, evenings, and some weekend shifts. Summer schedule: two to five days and/or 25 to 40 hours per week. Schedule is flexible and will be discussed in the interview.


    Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.


    Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires remaining seated at a computer and/or desk for periods of time, standing at a counter as required, and working with the public in sometimes stressful situations.
