Part-time Seasonal Positions

Number of Positions: Ten (10)
Essential Duties: These are seasonal concession cashier positions at the Provo City Veteran's Memorial Splash Pool within the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. The individuals appointed to these positions will be responsible for greeting the public; serving concession items to customers, handling money, inventory control, taking care of necessary duties for opening/closing and cleaning up, and some food preparation. Employees will also be required to assist aquatics staff members as needed and perform other related work as required.
Minimum Requirements: An adequate amount of knowledge and experience which would demonstrate an ability to perform the work. Valid food handlers permit may be required at time of appointment. Sales and cash register experience preferred.
Selection Factors: Ability to handle and count money, and work well and communicate with public patrons and other aquatics staff members.
Wage: $6.50 per hour. Payment will be made by direct deposit.
Schedule: Various shifts. Flexible hours on weekday mornings, afternoons, and evenings with some Saturdays. (Approximately 25 to 40 hours per week.)
Duration of Position: Approximately 15 weeks; Memorial Day weekend through late August, 2008.
Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires standing, bending, stooping, reaching, light lifting, and other physical demands associated with concession duties. Work location is inside with use of food preparation machines and appliances. Some positions may include exposure to high-stress situations or environments, including, contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances, and some exposure to cleaning materials.
