Seasonal Positions

Number of Positions: Four (4) to Six (6)

Essential Duties: These are seasonal official/referee/instructor positions in the Recreation Division of the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. The individuals appointed to these positions will be responsible for instructing youth (1st and 2nd grades) in the Junior Jazz basketball program. The structure of the program involves teaching basketball skills to the participants and officiating scrimmages. Additionally, employees may be required to do some court maintenance and perform other related work as required.

 

Minimum Requirements: Sufficient amount of experience and/or knowledge of rules associated with youth basketball which would demonstrate an ability to perform the work. Must be able to work well in group settings.

Selection Factors: Ability to work well with children, adults, coaches, and spectators.

 

Schedule: Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.

 

Duration of Position: March 3 to March 31, 2012. 

 

Wage: $9.00 per hour. Payment will be made by direct deposit. 

 

Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires physical strength and agility to perform the work, including standing and moving around on feet for extended periods of time, and lifting at least 25 pounds for court preparation. 

 

Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
