    iProvo/Telecom

iProvo is the advanced telecommunications network infrastructure currently under construction by the Telecommunications Division of Provo City’s Energy Department.  Bandwidth on this ultra-high capacity network infrastructure is leased to private companies who provide retail telecommunications services  to businesses and residents of Provo. The fiber optics infrastructure will pass by each home and business, providing an opportunity for residents and business owners to purchase enhanced services from private providers. In addition, some bandwidth has been reserved for education and community purposes. iProvo is designed to be part of a public-private partnership where the essential infrastructure is owned by the public, but the services are provided by private sector companies. Many telecommunications experts believe this model is the best  way to provide advanced telecommunications services to homes and small businesses.
