Provo City

Traffic School Eligibility

The City of Provo offers a traffic school class as an option in resolving your moving violation.  To determine if you are eligible for this option, you will need to appear within 20 days from the date on your citation at the Provo City Justice Court located at 310 West Center, Provo.

Eligibility is based on your driving history.  The clerks at the justice court will not be able to approve you for traffic school if your citation involves one of the following:
  • Presence of alcohol at the time of the citation
  • Speeding citation that exceeds 25 mph over the posted limit
  • Speeding in a "school zone" that exceeds 9 mph over the posted limit
  • Citation that requires a mandatory appearance before the judge
  • Your driving history does not meet guidelines established by the city prosecutor and justice court judge

If you are determined to be eligible the clerk will assist you with a plea in abeyance agreement which is required by State Law and outlines the requirements for your case to be resolved.

The clerk will also sign you up for traffic school at the time you enter into your agreement.  The court offers classes during the day, evening and even on a Saturday.  The class may also be taken online.

Please be prepared to pay for traffic school and the plea in abeyance fee on the date you come into the justice court.
