Provo Mayor John R. Curtis took office on January 5, 2010, bringing with him extensive business and public service experience. Prior to serving as mayor, he was a partner and the Chief Operating Officer of Action Target, a Provo based company that provides firearm training and products to police departments and military bases throughout the world. As a businessman, John is known as a problem solver who can bring people together. His "get it done" attitude has earned him numerous awards from the community and his previous employers.

John values his association with the hundreds of great city employees, managers, directors and the Municipal Council. He also wants to stay close to the residents of Provo and demonstrates that by listing his cell phone number on the city website and continuing to knock on doors in Provo. He enjoys social media and his blog, provomayor.org, has steadily grown in popularity. He reads and personally responds to the hundreds of emails sent to him. In John’s words, “Our residents are what make Provo great, not our government.”

His favorite topic is his family. He and his wife Sue were high school sweethearts and have been married for over 28 years. They have six children and can often be found cheering from the sidelines at one of their sporting events. In addition, John enjoys riding motorcycles and claims he can solve just about any problem with 1600 CCs under him on a ride up Provo Canyon.
