Miss Provo Board of Directors


The Miss Provo Board of Directors functions as the leadership of the Miss Provo Scholarship Organization, which is a separate, non-profit corporation.  The corporation's bylaws include a provision that the Mayor of Provo may appoint board members.  Applications may be submitted at any time, but must be submitted by July 15, 2010, in order to be considered for a director position for the 2010-2011 pageant year.
 
Criteria/preferences for a two-year-term Board of Director position with the Miss Provo Scholarship Organization
 
  • Interest in helping young women reach their highest potential
  • An emotional connection to Provo City and a desire to see the city represented well in local and state events
  • Experience managing, helping with, or participating in scholarship pageants
  • Experience with fundraising and recruiting volunteers
  • Experience working within a non-profit organization
  • Familiarity with general accounting practices and financial documents
  • Task- and detail-oriented
  • Accessible by phone and email and responsive to questions and comments
  • Ability to delegate, work as a team, and supervise volunteers

Duties and responsibilities
 
  • Organize and manage the Miss Provo Scholarship Organization and its pageant according to bylaws
  • Comply with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and contracts
  • Appoint and oversee qualified individuals to act as officers
  • Possibly serve as officers
  • Grow and develop the organization through fundraising and recruitng volunteers
  • Seek training from the Miss Utah Scholarship Pageant
  • Attend board and pageant planning meetings
  • Share responsibilities with Provo City regarding the Provo City float and local parades
  • Perform duties typical of directors in similar organizations
