    Administrative Message
    Summer Fall 2008

The Provo Parks and Recreation Department is excited to present this Summer/Fall Activity Guide. In it you will find information about activities, facilities, and operations of Provo City.  We are proud to be a contributor to your recreation opportunities. The 320 acres of park land include 41 individual parks and play fields, four centers, two swimming pools, a water play area, over 25 miles of trails, and other recreational facilities which provide attractive settings for individual, family, and group activities.

The Recreation Division organizes and conducts scores of programs each year for children, teens, and adults. The Senior and Historical Services Division conducts daily activities, tours, and special events for our mature population, including the Provo Senior Games, to be held in August. The Covey Center for the Arts sponsors a full schedule of performances, classes, art displays and special events.

In addition to recreational activities, the Parks and Recreation Department performs other important community functions. The Cemetery staff maintains a 44 acre burial park and facilitates this solemn function with sensitivity and dignity. The Facility Service Division maintains all of the city buildings to provide an attractive and comfortable setting for conducting city business. Our office and administrative staff are eager to facilitate your participation in programs and reservations for park facilities.

I urge you to review this Activity Guide and become an active participant. The benefits are endless.

    Sincerely,

    Earl C. Williams
Assistant Director, Senior and Historical Services
