Freestyle Sessions
These skating sessions are specifically set up for aspiring competitive adult and junior figure skaters. During these sessions, skaters may practice their skills or programs, or schedule a private skating lesson. Most sessions are 1 hour in length. The cost for freestyle ice time is $6.00 per hour or $3.00 per half hour. This can be paid each time you come, or you may purchase punch cards that offer a volume discount. Please click here to view the monthly freestyle schedule.
Private Lessons
Skaters may begin to take private lessons at any time. It is not necessary to complete all of the Learn-To-Skate lessons first. The benefits of private lessons are: One-on-one instruction allows for a more rapid progression of skills. Private lessons offer individualized instruction tailored to meet each skater’s personality and learning needs. A private coach will prepare a skater for competitions and special events such as ice shows if desired. Private lessons provide a safer environment to learn more advanced jumps and spins. Private lessons are a great supplement to group lessons and allow skaters to focus on skills that need more improvement in order to earn their Learn to Skate badges.
All Peaks Ice Arena Staff Professionals are members of U.S. Figure Skating and PSA. In addition all Pros have completed the U.S. Figure Skating Coach Registration process, which includes an annual background check.
Private lessons are arranged & paid for directly to your Staff Professional (Coach), and the ice session time (Public or Freestyle) is paid to the Peaks at the front desk prior to getting on the ice.
Peaks Figure Skating Club
Once you or your skater has progressed through the basic and freestyle levels he or she will begin taking tests conducted in front of a panel of judges in order to advance from level to level. Your coach determines when it is time to test. It is at this time that your skater will need to be a full club member of a U.S. Figure Skating Member Club to be eligible to take these tests. For information and a full list of member benefits please visit the Peaks Figure Skating Club website.
