What is Mini Mites?

Mini Mites is an instructional level, total developmental youth hockey program designed to give kids ages 4-7 the necessary skills to play ice hockey.  The Mini Mite program follows the USA Hockey ADM for skills development.  More information on the ADM can be found at www.admkids.com.

 

Do I need to know how to ice skate to participate?

Basic ice skating skills, up to Hockey Level 3 of the USFSA guidelines, are required for participation in this program.  All beginning level skaters should attend at least one semester of the Learn-to-Skate program before signing up.

 

What equipment is required for participation? 

Basic hockey equipment is required for participation in the Mini Mite program.  This includes hockey skates, helmet with mask, shin guards, elbow pads, hockey gloves, hockey pants and a hockey stick.  During the program jerseys and equipment sets are provided for participants at no additional charge.

 

Must I register with USA Hockey?

Yes, you are required to register with USA Hockey in order to participate in the Mini Mite program.  To register, go to www.usahockeyregistration.com

 

When is Mini Mites?

The Peaks Ice Arena runs its Mini Mite program in semesters.  Semester 1 is from September to December.  Semester 2 is from January to March.  Mini Mites is a 20 session program.  Generally, the Mini Mite program runs on Thursday early evenings and Saturday mornings.  Thursday sessions are one hour long.  Saturday sessions are an hour and a half long.  Cross ice games are played during the last half hour on Saturdays.
