Join Mayor Curtis and Mayor Becker as they bike from Provo to Salt Lake City in the fourth annual Rivalry Ride on October 28. View the map here. Go Cougars!
Because the Utes won this year's BYU vs. U of U rivalry game, Provo Mayor John Curtis and Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker will bike approximately 60 miles from Provo to Salt Lake City on Friday, October 28, starting at the Provo City Center, 351 W. Center St., in Provo. There will be an opening ceremony on the north steps of the City Center at 9 a.m., with the bike ride starting at 9:30 a.m. It will end when all participants arrive at the Salt Lake City and County Building, 451 S. State St., in Salt Lake City. View the map here and RSVP on Facebook here.
The public is invited to participate in the opening ceremonies and/or the ride at no cost. This year, those who are interested in a shorter route are invited to join the mayors for the first three miles of the route to Lakeview Park, 2825 W. 1390 N., in Provo, about three miles from the City Center.
Participants are required to sign a waiver. Cougar fans should wear jerseys, shirts, or other articles of clothing in the color blue to show support for BYU. Mad Dog Cycles will provide bike checks prior to the opening ceremony and other support for the ride.
Provo City can provide some limited transportation back to Provo after the ride, but participants are encouraged to provide their own. If you need transportation, or can help with transportation, email Helen Anderson at handerson@provo.utah.gov by October 25.
Both mayors want to use the ride to encourage participation in the upcoming BYU v. U of U food drive that will take place November 14-25. Watch for more information about how to donate to Community Action Services and Food Bank.
