    COMPOST INFORMATION

     
     
     

    Who can bring items in?

     
     
     
    • Provo residents can bring secured loads of organic yard waste in free of charge.
    • Businesses and landscapers can bring loads from Provo residences and businesses for $4 per yard.
     
     
     

    Who can buy compost?

     
     
     
    • Anyone can buy compost.
    • Sold on a first-come-first-served basis.
     
     
     

    How much does it cost?

     
     
     
    • $20 per cubic yard (tax included) for regular compost
    • $22 per cubic yard (tax included) for bio-solids compost 
    • $20 per cubic yard (tax included) for mulch
    • A cubic yard will nearly fill the back of a small pickup truck.
    • $3 per bag  for compost (40 - 50 lbs) (tax included)
    • $10 per cubic yard (tax included) for wood chips
     
     
     

    Where is the compost station?

     
     
     
    • 1625 South Industrial Parkway, Provo, UT - on top of Provo's old landfill
    • Industrial Parkway is in the East Bay Industrial Park (approx. 700 East)
     
     
     

    Hours of operation?

     
     
     
    • Spring/Summer/Fall:  Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 6 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. 
    • Winter:  Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
     
     
     

    Products available?

     
     
     
    • Compost - all materials brought in are ground up, mixed together and composted. Compost is a beneficial soil amendment tilled into the soil and used to add valuable nutrients and organic matter to the soil and improve the soil’s texture and appearance. This compost does contain bio-solids from water reclamation plants.
    • Mulch - decorative wood chips that have not gone through the composting process. Mulch is mainly wood chips used for ground cover that shades the soil to help retain moisture, reduce weeds and discourage weed growth.
    • Landscaping rock is now available at the compost station. 3" and 8" rock costs $40 per cubic yard.
    • Other new types of composts are are now available at the compost station. Please visit the solid waste district's website, suvswd.org, for details, prices and availability.
     
     

    Unacceptable items?

     
     
     
    • Dirt, rocks, roots with dirt.
    • Sod
    • Stumps, branches longer than 10’, trunks larger than 10” diameter.
    • Building/fencing materials, treated wood.
    • Trash
