Rookie League T-ball is an instructional program for 5yrs - kindergarten age boys and girls that introduces basic baseball skills to prepare children for participation in more advanced leagues. Season will be progressive, starting with all children hitting off a tee, progressing to coach pitch as their skill develops.

Coaches are encouraged to hold practices once a week, at a time/location determined by each coach, with at least one practice before the first game. Jerseys will be distributed by coaches. Games will be held once a week on Saturdays; the location of your child’s games will be listed on the schedule. The first session will be an instructional clinic. Games will be scheduled at 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, or 12:00. Rainouts will be rescheduled on Wednesday evenings.

A structured pre-inning warm-up will be included into the game time, to provide a more solid foundation of basic skills. The games will run for 50 minutes, with no new innings beginning after 45 minutes. This newly re-designed program will focus more on skill development and exposure to the sport, rather than the competitive aspect of the game. Basic skills will be incorporated into all aspects of the game.

All schedules will be posted online by May 1. Your coach should contact you with your team assignment by May 5; if not, please contact the Parks and Recreation Office at 801-852-6600. If you or anyone in your household is interested in volunteer coaching, please contact Parks and Recreation.

It is your responsibility to contact the Parks & Recreation Office if you have not heard from your coach.

 

A rain-out hotline has been set-up for your convenience. If the weather is questionable, please call the hotline at 801-852-6629. The hotline is updated on weekdays by 3:30 p.m. and by 8:00 a.m. on Saturdays. Games may need to be called at the field.
