Improving City Services
iProvo is first and foremost a tool for meeting public needs.  The fiber plays a critical role foe the SCADA (super visory control and data acquistion) software, the fiber driven brains for the  electrical system, which can now switch power outages to new lines at the speed of light.  Similarly, the fiber also fuels the technolgy nerve center for the city's water system.  Downtown at the central public safety dispatch center, operators see "live time" trafffic situations" via fiber connectivity.  tTraffic signals are now monitored over fiber optic connections.

Building Community
iProvo is the template for new possibilities.  video-on-demand (VOD) allows residents to take a collegfe course from home, watch a high school athletic event, an elementary school play, or a civic meeting at their convenience.  Small business owners enjoy the same high-speed Internet access as larger companies, affording them new competitive opportunities.  Patients are easily connected to Physicians and medical facilities world wide through telemedicine via hte fiber connectivity.

Financing iProvo
Lease payments by private retailers fund the $39.5 million in bonds authorized by the Municipal Council for construction and operation of iProvo.  As additional service providrs begin to use the iProvo infrastructure, Provo customers will benefit from increased competition.
