    How do I get Started?

    To receive electric (or any other utilities) service, you must do the following:

    • Call or visit the Utility Department at:

    • Know your correct address. Service can usually begin the same day you sign up.

    Is there a charge?

    Yes, there is a processing fee of $20.00 which will be added to your first bill.

    Will I need a deposit?

    Probably - in most cases there is a deposit for utilities.

    Residential Deposits:

    • Electric Deposit: $75.00 per unit
    • Water Deposit: $30.00 per unit

    Commercial Deposits:

    • Commercial deposits vary and are determined by individual account usage. The deposit must be payed at the time of connection.

    Deposits can be waived if:

    • You have a qualified co-signer, or
    • You've had a recent account with Provo City Utilites for two or more consecutive years with timely payments.
    • You have a letter of credit.

    When will I get my deposit back?

    We will refund your deposit:

    • When you move out (less the balance on your final bill), or
    • After two years of service with timely payments on residential services.

    What Do I Need To Do When I Need To Leave?

    You will need to tell us:

    • When you want services disconnected.
    • Where to send the final bill and deposit refund.

    We need to know at least one day but not more than two weeks in advance.

    Does It Cost Anything To Disconnect?

    No, but if you change your plans and do not notify us before we have turned your utilities off, there will be a $10.00 reconnection fee.
