About Us Provo City Forestry Division manages over 30,000 trees that are growing under electrical power lines and facilities. Our crews maintain (prune, remove, spray, and plant) 15,000 Street Trees throughout the City. On September 11, 2008, Provo City Power again donated over 600 trees to Provo citizens in our annual Trees for Energy Conservation program. |

Free Tree Giveaway
Bright and early on Thursday, September 11, 2008, many of Provo City’s residents lined up to receive their free tree. Before even the first tree was given away, the line stretched all the way around the block (see picture). Every year Provo City Power donates trees to residents with central air conditioning in an effort to lower summer power bills and usage. Over 600 trees were given away on Thursday to happy customers. | Arbor Day News This year Provo City celebrated Arbor Day on May 3rd by planting over 50 trees at Provo's Municipal Airport. At the celebration Provo received the Tree City USA Award for the 24th year from Meridith Perkins from Utah's Division of Forestry, Fire, and State Lands. Winter is the season... Winter is the season to prune trees. But before you start pruning, make sure to check for power lines in or near your trees’ branches. Stay safe by keeping yourself and anything you are handling at least 10 feet away from power lines. Never try to remove branches that are tangled in a power line. This is very dangerous and should only be done by a certified professional. If one of your trees has branches tangled in power lines, call Provo City Power (801) 852-6000. For more tips about pruning trees visit our Tree Care page. |
