SPORTS FITNESS TRAINER

Number of Positions: Four (4) to Eight (8) Posted: September 26, 2017
Essential Duties: This is a seasonal instructor position in the Recreation Division of the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. The individuals appointed to these positions will be responsible for instructing Peak Performance fitness training. Employees will train and instruct youth in beginning to advanced physical preparation for basketball, volleyball, and a sampler of other sports. Additionally, employees may be required to perform other related work as required.
Minimum Requirements: National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) or similar certification. CPR certification. Sufficient experience leading a small group training environment for sport-specific groups on fitness, speed, agility, and quickness as it relates to youth basketball, baseball, and other team sports. Please indicate all sports experience in the Certifications area of application.
Selection Factors: Experience teaching groups and/or groups of youth.
Hours: Tuesday through Friday, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
Wage: $15.00 - $20.25 per hour depending on experience. Payment will be by direct deposit.
Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires physical strength and agility to perform the work including: standing and moving around on feet for extended periods of time and minor bending and lifting; and the ability to work with the public in sometimes stressful situations.
Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job related experience. Selection may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
