Customer Services Department
Part-time Regular Position

Essential Duties: This is a parking enforcement officer position in the Provo City Customer Services Department whose main responsibility will be to patrol designated areas on foot and by vehicle for parking violations. Employee will be expected to cite violators, operate department vehicles, and perform other related work as required.

Minimum Requirements: Basic computer knowledge is desired and sufficient knowledge and/or experience which would demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the job. Ability to operate a right hand drive vehicle. Applicant must be 21 years of age and be able to respond to the work site within 20 minutes in emergency situations.

License: Valid, lawful Utah driver's license is required at time of appointment. Applicant may be disqualified for consideration on the basis of an unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.

Wage: $12.50 per hour. Payment will be made by direct deposit.

Hours: Twenty (20) to twenty five (25) hours per week. The schedule may be flexible to include five to eight hour shifts, Monday through Sunday, and may change based on department need.

Selection Factors: Ability to work well with people often under stressful conditions; knowledge of all parking-related violations as per Provo City and Utah State Statutes; accept and respond to on-the-job training as it pertains to the above factors; and maintain proper care for Provo City vehicles and all issued equipment.

Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.

Physical/Environmental Factors: Patrolling on foot for long periods of time, exposure to heavy traffic and all weather conditions, operating a right hand drive vehicle, and exposure to the public in sometimes stressful circumstances.

Pre-employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
