Number of Positions: 20-25 or as needed by department.

Essential Duties: The individuals appointed to these positions will be required to perform the following duties: officiate basketball games for youth in grades 1-8. Officials will referee and maintain control of youth and/or teen basketball games; set up basketball facilities, track game equipment; and perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements: Knowledge of basketball rules, penalties, and hand signals which would demonstrate an ability to perform the job; physical ability needed to perform the duties of the job; and excellent customer service skills. Please indicate sports experience in certifications section of the application.

Selection Factors: Knowledge of basketball rules. Ability to maintain control of teams, coaches, and players; resolve conflict, and work effectively and courteously with the public.

Schedule: Variable shifts Tuesday/Thursday evenings 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Saturdays 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Number of hours will vary depending on the week; usually 8-12 hours per week. Mandatory training will be provided mid-October. Regular staff trainings will be held bi-monthly on Monday afternoons.

Duration of Position: Approximately October 23, 2018, through May 4, 2019.

Wage: $9.00 - $11.00 per hour, based on knowledge, experience, and performance. Payment will be made by direct deposit.

Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires physical strength and agility to perform the work, including minor bending and running up and down the court during the games. In addition, this position requires the ability to work with the public in potentially stressful situations.

Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
