Part-time Regular Position

Essential Duties: This is a night cashier position with the Covey Center for the Arts. The individual appointed to this position will be required to do the following: sell tickets in the ticket office; process internet ticket sales; count money and balance daily cash drawer; assist the public and staff prior to and during performances; work with a volunteer usher staff; provide security for the building; do minor lifting and moving (programs, tables, and chairs as needed); have the flexibility to fill in where needed; and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Have a working knowledge of computers; be able to type 35 wpm; have experience working with money; have experience working with the public; have the physical strength and agility to perform the work; and have the ability to follow directions and communicate with others. Preference will be given to those with previous ticket office experience.

Hours: Schedule is based on events Monday through Saturday. Typical hours are between 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM Monday-Friday, and 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM on Saturday.

Wage: $10.00 per hour. Payment will be made by direct deposit.

Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.

Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires using a telephone, walking; sitting, bending; reaching; lifting (up to 50 lbs); and long periods of time at a computer.

Pre-employment Testing:
Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
