Essential Duties: These are Recreation Worker positions needed seasonally by the golf course of the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. The individuals hired for these positions will be required to perform the following duties: Cart & Range Attendants: daily maintenance of golf cart fleet; pick and clean driving range balls; provide friendly customer service; and perform general upkeep and maintenance of the clubhouse. Concession Workers: open and close golf course grill; prepare and report nightly deposit; prepare food and drinks for customers; clean and sanitize all surfaces and areas in accordance with Health Department policies; provide friendly customer service; follow daily procedures set by golf course management; and perform stocking and inventory of pantry. Pro Shop Assistants: open and close the golf course; provide friendly customer service; tee sheet management; golf merchandising and inventory; prepare and record nightly deposits: assist head and assistant professionals in daily tasks; perform minor club repair, golf cart cleaning, driving range ball pick up, and general upkeep and maintenance of the clubhouse. Employees will also be expected to assist with tournaments, outings and events; assist other crew members as needed/directed and perform other related work as required.
Minimum Requirements: Any training or experience which would demonstrate an ability to perform the work. Applicant must have the following: physical strength and agility enough to perform the work, a basic knowledge of golf, ability to follow directions and communicate with the public in a courteous manner, and knowledge of the safe use of hand tools and equipment required by the position. Concession Workers must have a current food handler’s permit.
License: Valid, lawful driver's license may be required at time of appointment. Applicant may be disqualified on the basis of an unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.
Wage: $7.75 - $12.00 per hour depending upon skill level and experience. Payment will be made by direct deposit.
Hours: Schedule will vary throughout the season, including weekends and holidays and will be coordinated with supervisor.
Pre-Employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant may be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job related experience. Selection for this position will be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
