Provo City Library at Academy Square
Part-time Regular Position

Essential Duties: This is a clerical support position in the Administrative Office of the Provo City Library at Academy Square. The individual appointed to this position will be required to perform the following duties: general office duties including data entry; answer phones; order and inventory office supplies; prepare and mail various department information; purchase, inventory, and fill vending machine; file paperwork; perform customer service; assist office staff as needed and perform other job related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D.

License: Valid, lawful driver’s license will be required at time of appointment. Applicant will be disqualified from driving for the City on the basis of an unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.

Selection Factors: Knowledge of English composition, spelling, grammar, and word processing and data spreadsheet software. Skill in performing duties in a manner that demonstrates respect, integrity, courtesy, and kindness towards fellow workers, customers, and the general public. Ability to focus on and complete assigned tasks effectively and pay careful attention to detail; operate standard office machines including computer and scanner; understand and follow written instructions; and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Wage: $10.61 per hour. Payment will be made by direct deposit.

Hours: 25 hours per week during business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.

Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires remaining seated at a computer for extended periods of time, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, moderate lifting and other physical demands associated with special events and working with the public. Some events may include exposure to stressful situations.

Pre-employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicants will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
