SUMMER SPORTS CAMP INSTRUCTORS

Essential Duties: This is a seasonal instructor position in the Recreation Division of the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. The individuals appointed to these positions will be responsible for instructing youth in beginning to intermediate skill development for basketball, soccer, and a sampler of other sports. Additionally, employees may be required to officiate scrimmage matches, perform some court maintenance and perform other related work as required.
Minimum Requirements: Sufficient amount of experience and/or knowledge of rules associated with youth basketball, soccer, and generalized sports knowledge which would demonstrate an ability to teach sports skills to children. Must be able to work well in a group setting (15-20 youth). Please indicate all sports experience in the Certifications area of application.
Selection Factors: Ability to work well with children.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:45 AM – 12:30 PM
Duration of Position: June 2019 to August 2019, with training prior to start of camps.
Wage: $10.00 to $12.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Payment will be by direct deposit.
Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires physical strength and agility to perform the work including: standing and moving around on feet for extended periods of time and minor bending and lifting; the ability to work with the public in sometimes stressful situations.
Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job related experience. Selection may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
