Part-time Seasonal Positions

Number of Positions: Two (2) to Five (5)
Essential Duties: These are seasonal officiating positions for the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. The individuals appointed to these positions will referee and maintain control of girls fast pitch softball games; perform minor field maintenance as required; maintain control of participants, spectators, and coaches; and perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements: Sufficient amount of experience and/or knowledge of rules associated with slow pitch/fast pitch softball games which would demonstrate an ability to perform the work. Must be 16 years of age.
Selection Factors: Ability to work well with adults, coaches, and spectators. Knowledge of fast pitch softball rules. MUST LIST SOFTBALL EXPERIENCE IN CERTIFICATIONS SECTION OF THE APPLICATION.
Hours: Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm plus occasional Saturdays.
Wage: $7.50/hour scorekeepers; $10.00 per hour umpires. Payment will be made by direct deposit.
Duration of Position: Approximately mid May – mid July, 2019.
Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires that the individual stand on their feet for the entire game, deal with the public in sometimes stressful circumstances, and work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
Pre-employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
