Essential Duties:
This is support work assisting the Events Coordinator and Assistant Events Coordinator in the Provo City Library. The individual appointed to this position will be required to perform the following duties: coordinate the maintenance and physical preparation of rooms and equipment for various events in the library; assist patrons with needs and requests; assist in preparing and maintaining reports, records, and equipment inventory; provide support and back-up in the absence of supervisor; make arrangements for performances and special events; and perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalent and any training or experience which would demonstrate an ability to perform the duties of the position. Strength and agility enough to perform the work is also required.

Wage: $11.00 per hour. Payment will be by direct deposit.

Selection Factors:
Ability to work with little or no supervision and make sound decisions in difficult situations; follow specific and general instructions; organize comprehensive or multiple projects; read and comprehend the English language; handle the public in a courteous and pleasant manner; establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the public; and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must also have knowledge of all types of audio visual equipment.

Schedule: Approximately 25 hours per week; various hours Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Hours of work will generally be in the morning, but must be flexible enough to accommodate work outside of normal business hours including late evenings and Saturdays. Hours will be arranged and scheduled by the Library Events Coordinator.

Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection for this position may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.

Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires bending, carrying, heavy lifting, and loading equipment, working extended hours, and other various activities associated with performing the essential duties of the job, including contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances.

Pre-employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
