Part-time Seasonal Positions

Number of Positions: Five (5)
Essential Duties: These are laborer positions in the Water Sources Section of the Water Resources Division of Provo City Corporation. The individuals hired for these positions will be required to perform the following duties: maintenance of all water production facilities, buildings and spring areas; repair water lines; build and repair fences; trim trees; and perform concrete construction work, reservoir maintenance, and other related work as required. Additionally, employees may be required to operate a backhoe, boom truck, jet machine, and weed burner; and assist other crew members as needed/directed.
Minimum Requirements: Any training or experience which would demonstrate an ability to perform the work. Applicant must have the following: physical strength and agility enough to perform the work, ability to follow directions and communicate with the public in a courteous manner, and a knowledge of the safe use of hand tools and equipment required by the position.
License: Valid, lawful driver's license is required at time of appointment. Preference given to candidates with a commercial driver's license. Applicant may be disqualified on the basis of an unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.
Wage: $12.00-$14.00 per hour depending upon skill level and experience.
Hours: 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Duration of Position: Approximately May to December 2019.
Pre-employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires: climbing ladders, bending, carrying, occasional heavy lifting, loading, digging holes, and other excavations; and exposure to adverse weather conditions, working in the river, high noise levels, and pesticides. Job may also require exposure to small confined spaces.
Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job related experience. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
