Essential Duties: This is a part-time guest services position needed to work with Senior Citizens in the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. The individual hired for this position will be required to perform the following duties: answer questions and phone calls at the community desk; coordinate volunteer-run senior programs; create monthly newsletters; schedule entertainment; recruit volunteers; track and monitor supplies and sponsorships; file necessary contracts; report participation numbers; and perform other work as assigned.
Minimum Requirements: Applicant must have the following: any training or experience which would demonstrate an ability to perform the work; experience working with senior citizens, physical strength and agility enough to perform the work, and ability to follow directions and communicate with the public in a courteous manner.
Selection Factors: Knowledge of applicable job-related experience. Skill in performing duties in a manner that demonstrates respect, integrity, courtesy, and kindness towards fellow workers, customers, and the general public. Ability to learn quickly and be courteous in adverse situations; and be flexible and fill in where needed.
License: Valid, lawful driver's license may be required at time of appointment. Applicant will be disqualified from driving for the City on the basis of an unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.
Wage: $11.00 per hour depending upon skill level and experience. Payment will be made by direct deposit.
Schedule: Minimum of three shifts per week, Monday through Friday 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Schedule will vary based on department need.
Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related knowledge, experience, education, and/or training. Selection for this position may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires walking; sitting; bending; reaching; lifting up to 30 pounds; and periods of time at a computer terminal.
Pre-employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicants will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
