Part-time Seasonal Positions

Number of Positions: Five (5) to ten (10)
Essential Duties: These are basketball scorekeeper positions for the Provo Parks and Recreation Department. The individuals appointed to these positions will be required to keep game and player statistics and will operate the score clock. In addition, scorekeepers will assist in facility set up and player check in and will perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements: Knowledge of basketball rules, penalties, hand signals and bookkeeping which would demonstrate an ability to perform the job; and excellent customer service skills. Please indicate sports experience in the certifications section of the application. Must be at least 16 years old to apply.
Selection Factors: Knowledge of basketball rules; ability to maintain control of teams, coaches, and players; diffuse and resolve conflict; and work effectively and courteously with the public.
Wage: $7.50 per hour. Payment will be made by direct deposit.
Hours: Variable shifts Monday through Saturday (minimum 2 weeknights + Saturdays); 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM (weeknights) and 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Saturdays).
Duration of Position: Approximately November 2019 through April 2020. Some scorekeepers will be invited to work summer basketball April – July 2020.
Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires physical strength and agility to perform the work, including, minor bending, and extensive athletic ability to maintain proper positioning during game play. In addition, this position requires that the individual help set up the facility and the ability to work with the public in potentially stressful situations.
Pre-employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
