Part-Time Regular Position

Essential Duties: This is an evening management position at the Peaks Ice Arena for the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. The individual appointed to this position will be required to perform the following duties: oversee staff members, coaches, volunteers, Zamboni drivers and concessions; assess facility needs and perform some minimal custodial cleaning duties required in closing the building at night. The individual should be able to perform basic facility maintenance and repairs; ensure that all staff and/or volunteers understand, communicate and enforce the rules and regulations of their assigned duties; assist other staff members and the public as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in similar management positions. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age to apply for the position.

License: A valid, lawful driver’s license is required. Applicant may be disqualified on the basis of an unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.

Selection Factors: Must possess basic management and supervisory practices; basic English composition, spelling and grammar; and skill in performing duties in a manner that demonstrates respect, integrity, courtesy and kindness towards fellow workers, customers and the general public. Must be able to organize a broad range of classes, special events and programs with general supervision. Must also be able to enforce rules and regulations in a fair and non-confrontational manner.

Wage: $11.00 - $12.00 per hour. Payment will be made by direct deposit.

Schedule: Schedule will vary. Some Saturday and evening work required. Approximate shift is from 6:00 PM to 1:30 AM (or closing).

Screening:
Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.

Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires some lifting of objects up to 50 pounds and working at a computer terminal for extended periods of time. This work is in an office and outdoors that involves dealing with the public in sometimes stressful or negative situations and exposure to adverse weather conditions.

Pre-employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Individuals with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
